ImPACT Coalition on Earth Governance and the UN Summit of the Future

The Earth Governance ImPACT Coalition  was established at the 2024 UN Civil Society Forum as one of 20 such ImPACT coalitions formed to build civil society cooperation and advocacy on specific issues relevant to the UN Summit of the Future, which took place in September 2024.

The focus of the ImPACT Coalition is on establishing and strengthening environmental governance mechanisms. Such mechanisms (political, judicial and executive) are vital to ensure implementation of environmental obligations and accountability to law protecting the environment. See Why Earth Governance.

The ImPACT Coalition works on building engagement of and cooperation between civil society organizations, like-minded governments, legislators, experts, private sector actors and other stakeholders on environmental governance proposals and initiatives, some of which have been thoroughly researched by the Climate Governance Commission and can be found in the 2023 CGC Report Governing our Planetary Emergency and summarized on the Mobilizing an Earth Governance Alliance website (see proposals).
